Hi crafty friends, I created a mini slimline card for today's blog hop and I was inspired by the sentiment on this card. It talks about books and coffee. So my thought was to bring those two looks together.

I created a chalkboard background, like you see in coffee shops and then of course the super cute books on the shelves.

To create the background I used Matte Black Alcohol Ink cardstock and a piece of chalk. First I stamped and white heat embossed the sentiment form the Story Sentiments stamp onto the black cardstock. Then I took a piece of white chalk and laid it on it's side and gently rubbed it onto the cardstock in different directions. I then used my finger to lightly rub it in.

You could do as much or as little as you like.

Then I die cut the books from the Layered Books die from white cardstock and ink blended them with Wintergreen, Apricot, Ginger and Terra Cotta inks. For the spines of the books I also die cut the solid rectangle piece from Gold Mirror cardstock and adhered those together. For the books laying down, I die cut the pages from white cardstock and ink blended those with Antique Linen Distress Oxide ink. This gave it a little bit of an aged look and then I adhered those to the other book dies.

I die cut the shelves using the Shelves Die from White Birch cardstock. I adhered the shelves and books with foam tape for dimension. I added a thin Gold Mirror cardstock mat behind the black cardstock and then adhered that to a white mini slimline cardbase (3 1/2 x 6 1/2).

Thank you so much for stopping by, have a wonderful day!

Hugs,

Joy
